Our advocacy areas.

  • Affordable and Abundant Housing

Like other high opportunity areas in California, the South Bay suffers a jobs-housing imbalance and a growing affordability crisis. The South Bay is also noting a disturbing trend of senior homelessness, with a 42% increase in persons 55+ identified during the 2022 South Bay/SPA 8 Los Angeles Homeless Count. Seniors, service workers, teachers, and young families are trying hard to keep up with the cost of housing.

We believe that nobody should have to spend more than a third of their income on housing, and that building more homes will make housing more affordable.

We build consensus and organize neighborhood voice in support of more affordable and market-rate housing projects.

  • High-Quality Transit / South Bay On Board

We support increased and enhanced transit in the South Bay. We are in strong support of the Metro C Line Extension to Torrance. We support the extension overall and support alignments on the Metro right-of-way including the staff recommendation for the Hybrid Alternative.

The item is returning to the LA Metro Board for consideration and approval on Thursday, May 23rd at 10 am. We need YOU to help speak in support for this transformative project:

    Let’s #buildthetraintoTorrance!

  • Safe Mobility Infrastructure

Our pleasant, Mediterranean climate is perfect for bicycling year-round. E-bikes have enabled car-free mobility for all ages, but conflict zones with cars pose safety risks. We support infrastructure improvements and the implementation of an interconnected network of protected bike lanes, throughout the South Bay cities.

We advocate for taking a regional approach and connecting protected bike lanes that span jurisdictions, and connect homes, schools, businesses, and transit hubs. Protected bike lanes are an investment in safety and are good for business.

We organize support and consensus for protected bike lane projects and for cities to strengthen their Local Travel Network plans to make our streets safer for everyone.
